BASIC ULTRASONIC IMMERSION INSPECTION

Not all material that requires NDT by the ultrasonic immersion method lends itself to automated inspection. Complex die-forgings and formed extrusions, among other products often require a manual, immersion inspection.

Mitchell Laboratories has immersion ultrasonic tanks to handle a wide variety of product forms and sizes. For small, complex parts, a relatively small volume of water with tank heights ergonomically suited to technician comfort assures reliable, high volume inspection.

A specially designed, twin rotator equipped, semi-automated tank allows a wide range of aircraft wheels, as well as forged rings to be inspected in an efficient, dependable manner.

Mitchell Laboratories even has a “Super Tank”. Located beneath a purpose built material handling system, this tank was designed and constructed for the inspection of extrusions 50 plus feet in length. Multiple bridge assemblies allow several inspectors to work simultaneously, increasing throughput.
